Memories from Phoenixville Pa

My husband and I found the Osborne's Inn a few years back and it has been our summer home away from home. We had such a relaxing time sitting on the front porch. Meeting new friends and enjoying the wonderful family of Peggy Ann and Frank. I just lost my husband to Cancer, but the memories I have of us on that front porch will forever be in my heart.

Osborne's Inn - you make a lasting impression.  When you are dealing with guests, when you are greeting people, yours is the voice people hear when they arrive.  People forget their problems when they are here.  Yours is the intelligence and caring family that people find when they spend time here. You are wonderful and so is your Inn and all the people that are in the Inn, both family and other guests.  We are very glad to be here for our vacation.  It is our home away from home in the summer.  We just want to thank all the Osborne's for being great.

COUSIN'S Restaurant - YAHOO!!!

SINDIA - Sweet!

REDDY'S - OK, YES!

June, Donna, Ken and Sue were here the last weekend of September at 427 Central Avenue - dead end to the Tabernacle!!!

Back in 2001 we stopped at the Chamber of Commerce house in the old bridge and learned that the Osbornes might have room to accommodate us if we rolled up to their door.  Happy Chance! We got to spend a sweet weekend in the upstairs apartment and start a friendship with Peggy Ann and Frank that has rejoiced us each September ever since.  How gracefilled of them to combine hospitality, business and friendship so beautifully!

We love the roomy comfort of 427 Central Avenue.  Save us a place for next year.

Fond wishes from June, Sue, Ken and the Crew!

It's strange to think of September, 2001, as a season of happiness, but that's when my husband, Ken, friend June and I discovered the Osborne Inn.  We had already established the happy habit of visiting Ocean City after Labor Day.  We'd pick a handy bed and breakfast or motel with a vacancy, never forming an attachment to any one place.  But this was the year we met Peggy Ann and found our Osborne Home.  The policeman who usually stayed in 'T', the lovely apartment with the ocean view balcony, wasn't in residence because he was involved in the terrible aftermath of 911, so we spent our first stay there, enjoying the Inn's unique welcome.

In 2002, our friends Carol and Paul joined us.  We have returned each season except for 2003, when a hurricane blew our plans away.

But here it is 2006. I am sitting in a wicker chair soaking up sunshine on the Osborne Porch.  My companions are packing the car for our departure.  We've spent the last two days renewing our delight in the boardwalk, the beach, Asbury Avenue, the alleys of Ocean City, moon and stars over the water, and good food at favorite restaurants and new restaurants that we are discovering.

Last night Peggy Ann invited us to take our champagne cocktails in 'T', our first room here, just because it was  available and she knew we'd love it.  As we entered the house, the Osborne Chorus, four granddaughters, sang to us: 'Welcome to Osborne's Inn.'  We're always reluctant to leave, and we so look forward to returning.  See you next year!

JOE - kicking back and relaxing on the beach, flying kites, the roaring sounds of the surf and the crazy antics of the gulls, breakfast at Bob's, dazzling lights on the boardwalk at night and the smell of cooking food in the air.

DIANE - time for contemplation and to get away, staying at the cozy 'home away from home' - the Osborne's Inn - enjoying Frank and Peggy Ann's hospitality, the warm beach, looking for seashells, early morning bike rides, the mist of the ocean on my face.

AUSTIN - the ocean is fun, going to antique stores and the movies, eating at different restaurants, Jake's water ice and trivia night, all the good laughs and fun, the comfy couch in Peggy Ann's apartment.

We've been going to Peggy Ann's place in Ocean City, for over 25 years now, and truly look forward to and enjoy, every minute there.  Thank you for helping to make such wonderful memories for us and for your friendship.

                                                  A Poem

There's no place on earth I've ever been
That I love more than the Osborne Inn.
There's no better folks in this great land
That I love more than the Osborne clan.
Memories galore over all these years
Many a laugh and a sprinkle of tears.
Children grown up while I've grown old
It's only part of the story that's told.
Babies are born at their God given call
As we continue to mourn those who started it all.
We came to sit on the porch awhile
To share a hug, a tale, a smile.
We step away from the city's strife
To salute summer and celebrate life.

We love to come to Ocean City every year because of the ocean and all the shops and places to eat!  If we don't have our week here the year just isn't right.  The extended family and friendship are extended blessings at the Osborne's Inn.  You make us smile!!!.

Ocean City and the Fairview have been our family's favorite vacation get-away for over thirty years.  Some of our favorite things remain constant thru the years; the excitement of finally getting here (8hr. drives!) the smells and sounds of the beach, the quaint restaurants and shops and the evening walks on the boardwalk. Our children always swore that they definitely saw shark fins in the water as we crossed the bridge to Ocean City, that was thirty years ago.  Now our daughter brings her children and they too look for the shark fins while crossing the bridge! We remember the Osborne children piled on each other on the sofa watching cartoons or playing red light, green light with all the other children 'sharing' their house that week (what awesome summers they must have had growing up!) We even remember Megan (she must have been around 2) walking with an older sibling to get the morning paper.  She would always have an oversized t-shirt on that brushed the ground as she walked.  Now they too have grown, married and are having children of their own.  From one generation to the next the memories continue to grow and we are so grateful to be a part of it all.  Congratulations on 40 years of memory making!

My first time at Osborne's Inn was with my daughter Cathi's eighth grade class from St. Joseph School in Cheltenham.  All the kids were invited for a day to celebrate their graduation.  At that time in my life I believe I was working with Frank for a few years and every once in a while had a day where we went to Ocean City for some R & R.   I was able to come down for some relaxation for a weekend either with my husband or my friend Cass.  We always had a great time especially sitting on the front porch and meeting new people. I continue to come down for a weekend usually with my friend Cass and just enjoy relaxing, smelling the ocean breeze or walking on the boardwalk.  The Osborne's always make this sometime special for us.

Spending a week in Ocean City is so nostalgic for me.  From the time I was very young - perhaps as young as two - my parents would vacation on the island, and my siblings and I have some wonderful memories.  Every year at low tide we would ride to the site where the ship 'The Sindia' had wrecked and wonder what treasures lay buried beneath the mast.  My mom would then tell us what the ship looked like when she was a girl on the beach.  Now, only a memorial sign remains as a tangible reminder - but it is enough to stir up those memories, and memories are what I want to share with my children.

The stability of coming to your Inn each year is something I hope my kids will see as a buried treasure, uncovered, and valued as I value my childhood at the shore.  The security and comfortableness we feel here is rare indeed.  And to be able to share this week with Russ' parents each year only adds to the treasure chest of memories together.  For my kids' sake I hope to have many more of these weeks together.  I hope my in-laws will be able to share them with us, and as long as your willing to keep your Inn running, we plan on sharing them with you as well.  Thanks so much for your hospitality, warmth, stability and flexibility.  It's exactly what we need!
